The Hickman Humane Society was founded in 1994 by a small group of dedicated animal lovers in Hickman County who recognized a critical gap in animal welfare services for our rural community. What began as a handful of volunteers fostering animals out of their own homes has grown into a thriving organization saving hundreds of lives each year.
We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that runs entirely on the generosity of our community — through donations, volunteer hours, and foster families who open their hearts and homes to animals in need. We believe that every animal deserves love, care, and a chance at a happy life.
Operating as a foster-based rescue means our animals live in real homes — not cages — where they receive individualized attention, socialization, and love while they wait for their forever families.
